5 Simple Ways To Practice More Gratitude

1) First Thing’s First

The way you start your day is how the rest of your day will play out.

In the mornings, we feel rushed to jump out of bed and get going right away. Maybe you hit the snooze button one too many times or maybe your kids are running around screaming.

Before you react to the outside world, get your inner world aligned first.

When you wake up and open your eyes, just think of one thing you’re grateful for.

Just one thing!

It doesn’t have to be elaborate; it’s the simplest things that give us the greatest joys in life. It could be your soft bedsheets, the smell of fresh air or the fact that you’re still alive!

It takes probably 5 seconds but this 5 seconds will have a powerful effect that will ripple into the rest of the day.

2) Go Old School

When was the last time you wrote a letter to someone? Like with an actual pen and a piece of paper?

Take 5 minutes and write out a handwritten note (or letter if you’ve got more time) and drop it off or mail it to someone who’s made an impact in your life.

Having gratitude is wonderful but expressing it to someone else can double the effect!

Especially now, during a pandemic when we feel so out of touch, let someone know you appreciate them even from far away.

The more thankful I became, the more my bounty increased. That’s because -for sure- what you focus on expands. When you focus on the goodness in life, you create more of it.

3) Hit That Share Button

Don’t have time to write a letter or can’t find a mail stamp?

Then just send a message!

Social media has made it so easy for us to connect in an instant, why not take advantage of it and express gratitude through technology!

Send a simple thank you, post a photo and tag your loved ones or share a story of a time they touched your heart.

4) Engage Your Senses

The next time you take a walk in the park, touch the grass and smell the roses. Feel the cold wind blowing on your face and taste the sweetness of the water in your mouth.

Appreciate the fact that you have all these senses to experience the wonderful world we live in.

You can do this every single minute of your life with every single thing that you do!

When you become more aware and engage in your senses, you’ll experience life in a completely different way 😊

5) Do A Little Shopping

And buy a gratitude journal!

There are tons of gratitude journals out there and I highly recommend you getting one!

Every single night before I sleep, I always write down 3 things I was grateful for throughout my day.

This helps me reflect and look for the highlights of my busy day which becomes the key memories I want to cherish.

The best part is because it’s written down, I can always look back and relive those memories one more time!
