Hi, I’m Sam!
I’m a stay-at-home mom to a young toddler, wife to an amazing man, and a proud, cat mama of three.
I’ve also been sober for over 11 years, and I’ve learned many lessons along the way. This blog is a collection of all the things that have helped me get and stay sober. But most importantly, become a better mom by being the best version of myself.
From drowning in debt to starting a business and writing my first book, I’ve finally reached a place of genuine happiness and freedom. I hope some of these stories you find here can help you too.
Things I love:
Cats, obviously, plants, but I’ve killed too many to keep track of, coffee, cheap books, blasting house music at the gym, being a mom, travelling, exotic foods, and snakes.
Things I don’t love:
Small talk, mindless television, pickles, scary movies, comedy shows, and a life without spontaneity.
Interesting things about me:
I once had 6 fish tanks in my home. In my younger days, I loved travelling alone for the thrill. One year, I volunteered in Ghana and my whole perspective in life changed. I used to work at a homeless drop-in centre where I met some of the coolest people in my life.
After giving birth to my daughter, I quit my job to stay home and raise her because, being raised by a single mother, I know how much that absence affected me growing up, so I promised myself I’d find a way to be there for all the moments.
Fun fact:
My husband and I met in grade 3, although we didn’t get together until after university. He proposed to me in front of our elementary school, and we tied the knot in Bali!
Thanks for stopping by
