Once you get to the other side of your recovery and you meet your new self, you are then able to turn around and help others in need.

That type of work I believe is the most rewarding.

I had an opportunity to work at a homeless mental health drop in centre where I connected with members every day on their life’s journey.

At the centre, our members (instead of “clients” to reduce stigma), would come in for hot meals, laundry, showers, and housing advocacy.

In addition to that, we also did tons of activities. Art therapy, pet therapy, physical activity, birthday celebrations, community events, and more.

There, I was able to take our members to play tennis, swimming, bowling, hiking, kayaking and so much more.

Many of our members who were homeless would get a chance to participate in activities and go to places they most likely wouldn’t be able to if they were alone.

The most rewarding part of these experiences was being able to see our members in a different light and connect with them in a different environment.

I saw twinkles in many of their eyes and smiles from the corners of their lips as we experienced something new together as group.

It was absolutely amazing.

8 Printable Recovery Bookmarks Alcohol Ink Theme

One activity we often did was reading.

Every day at work, I would sit with one member and read our favourite book in each other’s company.

He would go to an AA meeting almost every day and then come down to the centre to spend the rest of his day.

I was lucky enough to be a part of his daily routine, and that is so important because stability and structure are necessary for recovery.

It was very humbling to be a part of that.

Personally, reading was a habit that I adopted as a part of my own recovery.

What we decide to put into our minds is so important, and choosing the right books is where it all begins.

The printable bookmarks from my Etsy store are all inspired by real-life experiences and specific people I’ve met along the way.

This set of alcohol ink digital bookmarks is filled with motivational quotes that have gotten me through tough times on my road to recovery.

You can print the bookmarks on thick paper or use a laminator for a longer-lasting product.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
