Third Trimester: Week 37 Pregnancy Recap

I have officially hit the point in my pregnancy when baby can come anytime or… in 5 weeks! 😂

We just won’t know when she is going to make her big debut but I’m SO excited, I don’t even have the words to describe it.

I’m also really cherishing every last moment I have with her inside my belly because I know this amazing part is going to end soon and I’m already starting to miss it.

This week was full of good and bad news from our test results but like always I’m still staying positive and reminding myself that this is all a part of God’s plan.

Even though I don’t see it right now, I know eventually it will reveal itself as it always does and I’ll understand why this is all happening.

Symptoms

Insomnia

Honestly, didn’t feel many symptoms this week except trouble sleeping just because we had the hospital appointments coming up…

Carpel tunnel syndrome

Glad to say this was very mild this week!

Mood & Energy

I’m starting to get really excited to meet baby. Mentally, I feel ready. Physically, also ready. Still going to the gym even though it was only once this week.

I’m still doing my daily birth ball exercises and walking a lot, even if it’s just around the house doing chores.

I think one of the biggest accomplishments this whole pregnancy was that I went from fearing childbirth to embracing it. That came from educating myself and exposing myself to the process of labor and delivery.

Many of the stories we hear about childbirth from friends and family (who love us deeply) can sometimes create fear and that is one thing you do not want to have during labor.

I believe everything in this world is energy and we have the power to manifest whatever we want to create for ourselves, including our birth story.

So baby girl, I’m ready whenever you are

Highlights This Week

Now, to the part you’ve all been waiting for, our hospital scan results…

Turns out, our little girl has a fetal ovarian cyst. Although, not very common (about 1 in 2600 cases), out of all the different types of fetal cysts she could have, this was the most common one (in females) and actually the best one she could be diagnosed with.

The main cause for this is maternal hormones overstimulating her hormones, so the longer she stays inside of me, the bigger and faster it can grow. So I’m praying that she’ll come much sooner before her due date.

As for treatment, there isn’t much we can do until she’s born. Most of the time, once the baby is not inside of the mother’s womb anymore and receiving all those extra hormones, the cyst will spontaneously disappear.

However, she does need to be monitored closely the weeks and months after her birth for possible torsion, where the ovary twists upon itself and causes complications.

Another test result that I received this week was my Group B Strep test which came back positive.

I was a little shocked because I do eat a lot of yogurt and fermented foods which was supposed to be one thing that helps keep it away but I guess not in this case.

It does come and go so maybe it was just my luck that at the time of my test, I had it.

Not much will change though, just the fact that the hospital will offer induction if my water breaks before labor to reduce the chance of infection and that I would need to be hooked up to an IV for antibiotics once I’m there.

Cravings

Had a craving to indulge in some Vietnamese and French cuisine this week so we went to Linh Café in downtown Vancouver. Baby girl had a taste of escargot, chicken liver and mussels. She did not complain and neither did I!

Favorites This Week

Squatty Potty – This was recommended by my pelvic floor physiotherapist and I’m so glad she did. Honestly, I wish I got this sooner because it makes going to the bathroom so much easier.

I’ve been quite fortunate to not have much constipation during this whole pregnancy but there are days where it’s not as easy and if I had this earlier, it would have been a life saver. So go get yourself one mama!

Anyway, she recommended using this as a part of postpartum care to relieve some of the pressure we feel when having a bowel movement, reduce straining and exasperation of stitches.

Thanks for stopping by 💕
