Hello wonderful people! As we’re getting closer to the new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about my New Year’s resolutions and how I’m going to make next year better than this year.

I’ve decided to document my journey as I grow and navigate through life. The first reason to this is that it helps me keep track of my progress. The second reason is that it holds me accountable! The third is to show you what striving for goals really looks like, all the ups and downs.

And just like you, I’m human too, I too make mistakes and struggle everyday! It’s not always roses and butterflies.

I hope this blog series will inspire you to achieve your goals and know that I’m right there with you!

Each month, I’ll do a reflection of the last month, set 3 goals for the month ahead and ask 1 insightful question to think about.

So let’s get right into it!

Monthly Reflection & December 2021 Goals

November Reflection

I don’t know about you but November went by so fast for me! Actually the past few months have flown by, seemed like it was summer just last month. As the holidays are coming up, I’ve been distracted with dinners and event planning.

Last month I did a lot of painting and crafts for Christmas gifts. Although that’s no excuse for not hitting my goals, I did find myself not as focused as the previous months.

Last month, my goals were:

1) Finish reading The Happiness Hypothesis

I didn’t finish the book. In fact, I barely got through the first chapter. One, because it hasn’t really been too captivating so far. I love it when I find books that I can’t put down and I’ll finish it in 2 days; for me, this wasn’t one of them.

Two, I just didn’t make reading a priority mainly because I lost interest. All in all, it’s still a highly recommended book by others for those who are interested in philosophical ancient times and how that connects to our modern society. So if that’s what you like, check it out! But in all honesty, it just wasn’t for me!

2) Lose 2 pounds

Hit this goal! And it feels awesome to finally see some steady results after going to the gym consistently again. Seeing results definitely gives me motivation to keep going!

3) Meditate 3 times a week

This one was on and off. One week I was able to meditate everyday for 15 minutes and the next week I only meditated once.

The week after that I meditated twice and the last week I didn’t meditate at all. I think this was mainly because I meditated at random times. If I chose a specific time to do it everyday maybe I could be more consistent.

December 2021 Goals

1) Finish reading The Happiness Hypothesis

I’m going to do this goal again. There’s no unrealistic goals, only unrealistic deadlines!

2) Meditate for 45 minutes

Most of my meditations have been really short, usually 10-15 minutes, sometimes 20. Mainly because I don’t have “enough time” to sit there and “do nothing” per se. This month I’m going to do a long meditation and see the difference.

3) Do a 1 hour at-home workout

Personally I prefer going to the gym to workout because being in a particular environment changes things for me. This new Omnicron COVID variant is getting more serious and I’m not as comfortable going to the gym anymore.

Who knows, if the cases continue to rise, we could see more restrictions in the near future and gyms could possibly be closed again. So this will challenge my adaptability and I’m sure my cats will have a blast getting in my way lol!

Tasks Before The New Year

New Year’s is just around the corner so this month there are a few things I want to get done to kick off 2022!

1) Plan out which books I’m going to read each month

This past year I’ve been randomly finding books to read one after another based on how I’m feeling and sometimes when I don’t know what to read next I linger on my current book which sets back my reading goals. So hopefully planning out 3 solid books per month, I’ll have better direction next year.

2) Update my vision board

I find that I sometimes get desensitized to looking at the same pictures all year long so changing a few aspects of my vision board will give it a fresh new look.

3) Write out a New Year Commitment letter to myself

Some of the things it will entail will include who I envision myself to be for 2022, setting new goals and which milestones to aim for.

Thanks for stopping by 💕
