Welcome back everyone!

Here I thought the sunshine coming through the clouds was bringing us closer to warmer days but boy was I wrong! This month I think I spent more time freezing and shivering than I did focusing on my goals lol.

Ok, I’m being dramatic but it definitely reminded me that winter is not over! Although, it was a short month, it was super busy for me and my goals seemed to have been put aside this month…more on that later…

If you’re new here, I created this blog series to document my journey as I grow and navigate through life in hopes to inspire you to do the same and grow with me. Each month, I’ll do a reflection of the last month, set 3 goals for the month ahead and ask 1 insightful question to think about.

So let’s get right into it!

Monthly Reflection & March 2022 Goals

February Reflection

Last month, I set big goals for myself, cramming my schedule with stuff that I subconsciously knew I wasn’t going to get done but I set them anyway.

Each year around this time, I pick up a side gig for 2 months and work on the weekends in addition to my full time job.

So I knew that I wasn’t going to have much time for anything else.

I’ve always said to set big goals for yourself because if you shoot for the moon, at least you’ll end up in the stars.

The dark side to this is that it hurts my self-esteem and puts me down a bit when I don’t achieve everything that I set out to do.

To clarify on that thought, I believe our end goals should be huge but our daily, weekly or monthly goals should be set at a realistic and achievable pace.

That way, it won’t feel like you’re taking 2 steps forward and 1 step back all the time, which is exactly how I felt in February.

Last month my goals were:

1) Workout 4 days a week

On average, I worked out 2 times a week which is not too bad.

I didn’t hit my initial goal of 4 times a week but subconsciously I already knew that I wasn’t going to be able to achieve that with my jam packed schedule.

Also, because I’m just getting back into my gym routine, I’ve lost the momentum and my sleep schedule is out of wack.

I ended up feeling so bad when I missed those gyms days that I just beat myself up over it.

For next month, I’m going to start with a more manageable gym schedule.

2) Read 3 books by February 28

For February I had these 3 books planned out:

This was a fail. I had started “I Will Teach You To Be Rich” earlier in the month but I didn’t end up finishing it.

Instead I started reading “The Art of Social Media” because it was a super short book.

It gave me a sense of accomplishment knowing that I was able to get at least 1 book down out of the 3.

I’ve had this book for over 5 years and it’s become “shelf-help” and not “self-help”.

It was also written in 2014 which is like ancient history in the world of technology.

Still, I did learn a few tips and tricks, would still recommend it.

3) Meditate for 7 days in a row

Done! This one was great. I really felt like I needed that time for myself.

Some days I meditated after the gym before I went to work which was so calming and it helped me set a peaceful mood before I go and take on all the other emotions I experience throughout the day.

Other days, I meditated before I went to bed which gave me a chance to decompress and clear my mind.

Usually, I prefer meditating in the living room and not anywhere near my bed as I associate that with only sleeping.

But some nights, I was so tired I ended up meditating while laying in bed and falling asleep before the meditation was over.

In reflection, I think I prefer meditating in the morning more.

If I felt like a night time meditation was needed as well, I shouldn’t leave it until the very end when I’m already falling asleep and not able to enjoy the full bliss of meditating.

March 2022 Goals

1) Go to the gym 2 times a week

I feel like this is going to be way more manageable for me since I’m still going to be working on the weekends for all of March.

Going to the gym at 5:00AM is still such a struggle for me because I was never a morning person for most of my adult-life as I had insomnia for years.

And sleep is something that I prioritize. I hate being sleep deprived. I just can’t function.

So to make sure I get enough sleep, get my workout in, go to my full-time job and have time to blog, I need to incrementally build this routine into my life again so my body clock can get used to it.

2) Read 1 book by March 31

Again, because this month I have more work than usual, I know I just can’t commit to reading 30 minutes everyday to finish 3 books this month (as I would have wanted in a perfect world).

So I’m going to stick with 1 book this month which is totally doable!

3) Do a face mask

I know this goal seems so minuscule but self-care is something that I have been severely lacking for the past 2 months.

Between working and blogging and pinning and chores and groceries and meal prepping and going to the gym and taking care of all my pets and life in general, I’ve put my own self-care priorities on the shelf.

I’ve been saying that I’m going to do a face mask for 2 months and I still have not made the time to do it.

This goal is more than just a goal, it’s a reflection of my lack of love for myself and it’s something I really need to be mindful of!
