Second Trimester: Week 14 Pregnancy Recap

Things started to pick up this week! I was feeling much better physically, emotionally and mentally.

I can actually stay up after work now and spend much needed time with my loved ones.

Also being able to slowly complete some of the tasks I have to prepare for this baby really made a difference.

Second Trimester: Week 14 Pregnancy Recap

Symptoms

Most of the major symptoms have plateaued and they have become more manageable this week. Finally starting to feel like I’m in control again.

Nausea

So glad this symptom has become more manageable. Only felt slight nausea twice this week.

Heightened smell

I could smell e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g! I smelt someone’s entire dinner one night from down the hallway of my apartment condo. The peppercorn on the steak, Caesar salad dressing and freshly toasted garlic bread.

Gagging

This goes hand in hand with the heightened sense of smell. It went both ways!

Bleeding gums

I would say I floss a healthy amount and never had much bleeding. Gums are way more sensitive now but it’s still advised to keep flossing to keep those teeth clean.

Vivid dreams

Still dreaming every night. Can’t say that I remember much about them, all I know is that they’re strange.

Breast tenderness

Not as prominent or painful. Still large in size with many obvious blue veins.

Food aversions

Nothing really appealed to my appetite still. Nothing was particularly repulsive nor was I craving anything either.

Body Changes

Clear baby bump showing this week! I usually wear loose, baggy clothing at work and even that can’t really hide it anymore. Finally starting to look more pregnant!

Mood & Energy

Started off the beginning of the week a bit stressed and frustrated. I felt overwhelmed with the amount of information we were trying to absorb.

With so many things we needed to learn and research, I had to remind myself to take it one step at a time and that motherhood is a lifelong journey and not a one stop destination.

Going to the gym really helps with my mood and gives me a chance to escape for a while. I managed to go 4 times before the week was over, totally needed it.

The first trimester exhaustion made it very difficult to read, journal and meditate but this week I slowly started to get back into the much needed routine.

Highlights This Week

Started our Baby Registry this week! Learned 2 things:

  1. Babies come with A LOT of stuff – take time to figure what you actually need
  2. Not everything needs to be brand new

We went to our local baby store “Babies R Us” and scanned everything we liked and of course, not everything is going to stay on the registry.

This helped give us a head start in researching brands and which items would suit our needs.

We’re also going to be able to see the gender soon and we plan to do a gender reveal party. I am just dying to know.

I feel like it helps with bonding and knowing that I’m calling them by the name I have in mind!

Must-Haves This Week

Regular pants and leggings don’t fit anymore and it’s time to change it up.

People have told me to buy one size up but I still find that the seam of the pants is pressed right against my belly creating a crease line which I find very uncomfortable.

The coverage on maternity pants are either made higher or lower which are way more comfortable. I found 2 from Old Navy that are comfortable and affordable:
