Second Trimester: Week 16 Pregnancy Recap

Another fantastic week of high energy and embracing the pregnant body!

I hope the third trimester feels this good as well although everyone is telling me it’s not going to happen.

Apparently it’s the first trimester all over again times 10? Or are they exaggerating!?

I really hope they are. I’ll just dream on for now and enjoy every day as it comes!

Second Trimester: Week 16 Pregnancy Recap

Symptoms

Leg cramps

This one is still bothersome but I’ve gotten better at managing it now. Listening to my body and taking breaks is key.

My midwife also suggested a Calcium + Magnesium supplement which I am planning on getting.

Heartburn

Everyone told me this one was going to hit soon and it sure did! I definitely notice it when I eat too much or if I’m eating oily or fried foods.

Butter fingers

Apparently your hormones make you clumsy and this one is so true. Things were flying out of my hands all over the place this week. I dropped so many things on the floor, I lost count.

Mood & Energy

Felt pretty good this week, everything was golden. Had tons of energy to workout, blog, cook and meal prep. The second trimester really is a breath of fresh air!

Went to the gym 3 times and focused more on pelvic floor exercises and stretches to open up my hips this week.

I know I’m still quite early in this pregnancy journey but there’s no harm in preparing, mentally and physically.

Highlights This Week

Finally got to meet my midwife in person this week for the first time. Did regular checkups like blood pressure, breast exam, weighing and my favorite part…

Hearing the heartbeat of baby in real time!!!

This was so special and I’ll admit, I got a little emotional and I’m not one to show usually but this caught my heart knowing they’re inside of me just flopping away and living their best life!

Cravings

Something about peanuts this pregnancy journey, I craved saucy spicy peanut noodles again. I had peanut cravings in my first trimester and now it’s back again.

Also developed a strange liking for pickles. Made deviled eggs with chopped up pickles in the mix and it was absolutely delicious, you should try it! It’s funny because I HATE pickles.

Favorites This Week

High Waist Over the Bump Underwear – They’re a bit thinner than I expected, similar to pantyhose material but works great with dresses. Very stretchy and can wear them through the third trimester.

Maternity Rollover-Waist PowerChill 7/8-Length Leggings – Absolutely love these. They’re so soft, great for everyday wear and even exercising. I’m only 5′ tall so these 7/8 length are perfect since I don’t have to spend more money on hemming.
