Another week of feeling awesome! Although I did feel some significant new symptoms (more on that below) and had to learn how to adapt, overcome and flourish again.

With Spring time in full bloom, I’m really feeling in harmony with nature, just like a flower approaching it’s most beautiful time of the year.

Every day this journey amazes me, and I’m so humbled that out of everything I get to be in this world, being a mother is one of them.

Second Trimester: Week 17 Pregnancy Recap

Symptoms

Acne behind neck

So glad it isn’t on my face honestly. I was expecting it to be a lot worse. I’ve been pretty lucky with acne growing up and never had much of it. This week, I noticed acne behind my neck and my upper back.

Increased hunger

Well of course this one was going to hit. I’m getting hungry a lot sooner after I eat and I’m thinking about food more often.

Really had to practice my impulse control and not overeat. Focusing more on lean healthy protein.

Dizziness

Felt this one a few times this week. Once after I went for a jog on the treadmill for 20 minutes, I had to readjust my workout routine again.

Another time was also after the gym when I decided to go grocery shopping (bad idea).

I get hungry quite quickly after my workouts now so I’ve got to eat something right away. Going grocery shopping immediately after the gym and not having any snacks with me was not a good idea.

I really felt my blood pressure had changed this week.

Calf cramps

This caught me off guard one morning when I started stretching in bed after I woke up. My right calf cramped up SO BAD, it was excruciating.

It almost happened again the next morning but I was quick to not tense up and do my best to relax my leg.

Now I’m still a bit weary of doing a full stretch because sometimes I forget it might cramp up again.

Favourites This Week

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter for Stretch Marks

Decided to get a different belly butter brand, so I went with Palmer’s Cocoa Butter.

In comparison to the Burt’s Bees Belly Butter I got the first time, this one feels more like a balm, and it’s really smooth and soft.

It feels very hydrating and it’s not sticky when you apply it. I also really like the smell of it.

It depends what you like but this one is good too!

Mood & Energy

Other than feeling dizzy a few times this week, all was well. Went to the gym 4 times this week which was awesome.

I’ve been so proud of myself being able to go so consistently this second trimester.

Exercising during pregnancy really does keep my mood in check and my energy levels up. The way I see it is, I’m training for childbirth!

Cravings

Mexican cuisine theme all week. This was so interesting because I almost never choose to eat Mexican food.

It has never been on the top of my list of food choices but this week I had it all!

Started off with making jalapeño poppers and enchiladas, then homemade salsa, then made some cilantro lime rice for dinner one night.

The next day, I made taquitos and then homemade guacamole with tortilla chips.

It’s funny because these are all things my husband likes to eat and I’m loving it too now! Well, just for this week at least.
