Well this has been one heck of a week! I’m not even sure if I want to blog about my moving experience and relive the horror that we went and are still going through…

Anyway, I’m sure you’re dying to know what actually happened so here it goes!

Our plan was to swap places with my parents, as they have a bigger place than our 1-bedroom apartment, so we scheduled movers last Saturday morning.

We were all ready to go when we found out at 6:00 am that the elevator in my parents’ building was broken!

We had contacted the moving company to hold off since the elevator technician promised same-day service, but without an estimated time of arrival.

Since we had to book two trucks to empty both places at the same time to do the swap, the moving company only told ONE of the trucks not to come.

So one truck came to our place at 9:00 am asking if we’re ready to go. We decided to move all our stuff to the truck first, and then waited five hours for the elevator to get fixed.

When the elevator technician gave us the clear, we called the movers to meet at my parents’ place to unload all of our stuff to the apartment lobby.

Then the movers were going to go up to my parents’ apartment on the third floor to bring all their stuff down to the truck to bring to our apartment.

And guess what, before the movers could even go upstairs, THE ELEVATOR BROKE AGAIN.

So all of our stuff was stuck in the lobby, and my parents’ stuff was still upstairs.

By this time, it was already 7:00 pm and it was going to take the elevator technician another 2 hours to come back.

The movers would come back on Sunday once the elevator was fixed, which meant all of our stuff would be left in the lobby overnight.

The elevator technician finally returned to tell us the fuse had blown and that parts would not be available until after the long weekend on Tuesday.

Well, my OCD brain and anxiety paranoia could not handle my stuff sitting out in the lobby for three days.

So my husband and a few God-sent neighbours helped us move our important boxes up three flights of stairs that night while our large furniture items sat in the lobby.

On Tuesday, we found out the elevator part that was needed was OUT OF STOCK for three weeks.

What was that saying? “When it rains, it pours”.

During the next three days, with the help of friends, family, and neighbours, we finally shuffled the rest of our belongings upstairs.

Now we have to shuffle all of my parents’ stuff down the stairs to bring it to our previous apartment, where they’re now staying.

It’s been one full week now, and half of my parents’ boxes have been moved out, but their large furniture remains. It’s been one heck of a week, but we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I hope my gong show moving story gave you a few laughs.

Now let’s get back to the pregnancy recap for this week!

Second Trimester: Week 21 Pregnancy Recap

Symptoms

Increased appetite

Baby is getting bigger and so is their appetite! Which is probably the reason why I’m feeling the two symptoms below quite a bit now.

Nausea

I have noticed nausea a few times after eating my meals, especially when I eat too fast. I actually threw up my entire dinner one night in the bush after leaving a restaurant.

Heartburn

Again this symptom really shows itself when I eat too much or too fast. It’s not like I’m overeating either.

I’m still eating my regular-sized meals, but my stomach just can’t hold them anymore. Need to split my meals in half now.

Cravings

Watermelon!! So in love with watermelon this week. Amidst the whole moving thing, I still went out to buy watermelon twice and it was the only thing that felt satisfying this entire week.

Highlights This Week

Aside from the horrendous yet humorous move this week, I did have another ultrasound appointment.

Last time, they were not able to see the spine and heart as baby was in an awkward position so I was scheduled to go again.

This time, baby was still in a weird position and wouldn’t budge for about half an hour.

The ultrasound technician asked me to go for a walk and maybe have a little caffeine which did the trick!

Everything turned out great and baby is growing as they should. Feeling blessed for the extra appointment because I got to see baby again.
